Occasionally imagination or ingenuity sets in. I wanted a holding device for the antique decoys; I plan to carve this year; however I didn’t want to spend $325 for a power vise. I had seen one in the Decoy Carvers Forum; so with a little design I shared my idea with some of the guys at work, and they designed this holding work station utilizing a trailer hitch. It works great.

Bird on the block ready for carving. I am using a draw knife and wood rasp to get the general form. In four hours, the block is fairly well rounded up; and ready to be removed from the holding device.
